Tainted milk toll doubles as 13,000 Chinese babies are poisoned - Daily Mail 23rd September 2008

The number of Chinese children sick in hospital in China's tainted milk scandal doubled to nearly 13,000 yesterday, including 104 in a serious condition. Altogether, more than 50,000 infants have needed hospital treatment and four deaths have been blamed on formula milk powder contaminated with melamine, which causes kidney stones and agonising complications.
