It may bring a congratulatory telegram from the Queen but reaching 100 is no guarantee of a happy, contented, old age, US research suggests.

A study by researchers at Temple University in Philadelphia of 244 people aged 100 or over found one in four showed clear signs of depression.

Blackpool to support health advice campaign - Blackpool Citizen 21st November 2008

Blackpool Council is to support the Department of Health’s National Keep Well Keep Warm campaign by running a two-day event in the town centre.

The event will be opened by comic Les Dawson’s widow, Tracy, will on Monday and will also take place the following day.
