Binge drinking as a teenager could damage memory for years to come, research has shown. Amid warnings that children as young as 12 are being treated for alcoholism, scientists have shown that youngsters who binge show significant deterioration before reaching their 20s. It is thought that drinking to excess interferes with a critical stage in development of the brain - and that the problem may get worse with age.
