Screening delays risk lives - Manchester Evening News 8th May 2008

GREATER Manchester has some of the highest cancer death rates in the country - and one of the worst records for screening, new figures reveal today. Seven out of ten women are facing a delay for life-saving breast screening across large parts of the region. The tests are designed to detect early signs of the disease and are supposed to be offered every three years to women between the ages of 50 and 70 and the screening programme dramatically improves chances of survival.
