HEALTH bosses have assured a public meeting that cutting bed numbers at the West Cumberland Hospital will not take away services. Around 100 people gathered at the Washington Central Hotel in Workington last night to talk about Cumbria Primary Care Trust’s controversial ‘Closer to Home’ plans which sets out to transform the health system in north and west Cumbria. The focus is to provide more care in the community and home settings, tailoring services to meet the needs of individual communities.
