A WIGTON pensioner died after taking a new drug to help lower his cholesterol, a court heard. William Coates, of Brookfield Avenue, died aged 78 after being taken violently ill last January. Carlisle Coroners’ Court heard on Tuesday Mr Coates, who suffered from a heart condition, had been prescribed Ezetimide by his GP. His widow June Coates told the court that about an hour after her husband had taken his first tablet he was gasping for air.
