Cases of MRSA have risen slightly in Cumbria’s hospitals despite the majority of other areas of the country experiencing a fall in the number of outbreaks. In the three months to June, the deadly bug struck six times at Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary and the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven.
