FIONA PHILLIPS, the GMTV presenter who has announced she is leaving the show at Christmas, has spoken in detail about how her father’s descent into Alzheimer’s prompted her decision to quit. Two years ago, Phillips’s mother, Amy, died after suffering from Alzheimer’s for seven years, leaving her daughter exhausted from racing from London to Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, at weekends following a week of 4am starts at GMTV, to help look after her.
