PEOPLE living in Barrow have a higher chance of dying from cancer than those living elsewhere. The findings are released in Cumbria’s public health report released by the county’s director of public health, Professor John Ashton. The report says that cancer kills 120 people per 100,000 of the population in Cumbria, slightly higher than the national average of 119, but that figure rises to 146 in Barrow.
