A society in which the glass is always half empty could play a greater part in shaping someone’s health than their genetic make-up. People who do not view their community as a supportive place may be more inclined to turn to drink or drugs or suffer from depression – all factors which make people vulnerable to a wide range of health problems. Unfortunately, by the time patients walk through the surgery door, the rot has already set in.
