HOSPITAL services are under threat as health chiefs look to cut costs. Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust must save £8m by April next year and admitted the target could result in permanent closures. The saving is on top of a £4m cut required by government figures which led to the trust announcing last month that it would be losing 28 beds.
