When 54-year-old Jean Sercombe had to give up the job she loved for health reasons, it sent her into a downwards spiral of depression. Having worked as a carer for many years it had become part of her life and she was left with a huge void to fill. Combined with other personal problems, Jean, of Botcherby Avenue, Carlisle, started to spend more and more time alone, draining her of her self esteem, confidence and general positivity.
