A WHITEHAVEN mum has issued a heartfelt plea to hospital bosses not to cut beds in the hospital which safely delivered and cared for her premature baby. Billy Thompson, was born six weeks early on February 5, weighing just 3lb 14oz. His mum, Emma Thompson, 32, of Red Lonning, has appealed to health chiefs over plans to restructure services in Cumbria which could see cuts in bed numbers at the West Cumberland Hospital’s maternity ward and Special Care Baby Unit.
