Britain faces a fertility crisis because more "subfertile" couples are having children using IVF treatment, experts warned yesterday. In some rich countries, more than one in 20 babies is now conceived in a laboratory. But the hidden cost is the transmission of defective genes which increase the rate of fertility problems in society, according to two professors writing in the British Medical Journal today.
