MORE children are treated for alcohol related illnesses in Greater Manchester than anywhere else in the country. The government says a record number of children under the age of 14 were treated for illnesses linked to booze in the region's hospitals last year. Nationally, 1,441 youngsters under 14 were treated for problems linked to booze last year - a quarter of them in the north west, including 139 in Greater Manchester, 128 in Cumbria and Lancashire and 106 in Cheshire and Merseyside.
