A nurse who quit the NHS to work abroad is among a growing number of medical staff furious at the way the service is being run. Other staff, prompted by The Sunday Telegraph's Putting Patients First campaign, have warned that declining standards are putting patients' lives at risk. Jane Bilik was so demoralised that she quit her NHS hospital in London to work in New Zealand. She had followed her mother and grandmother into nursing, but after a decade had felt ground down by long hours, understaffing and lack of support.
