Britain is facing a "diabetes time bomb" with the number of people with the condition passing three million for the first time, a health charity said yesterday. According to data collected by GPs, the number of patients with diabetes increased by 100,000 in the past year. Some 2.3 million people have been diagnosed with the condition. About nine in 10 have the Type 2 form of the disease, which is closely linked to obesity. An estimated 750,000 others have Type 2 diabetes but are not aware of it.
