Patients seem to come last on the NHS agenda these days, says Max Pemberton My job would be so much easier if it weren't for one thing: patients. If I could only get rid of them, I'd be much more efficient. I could get on with the important jobs of form filling, paper-pushing and wading through reams of bureaucracy. There would be nothing to impede the reading of health and safety protocol. Targets would be easily reached, trust deficits would be cut and waiting times would be drastically reduced. All round, things would run much more smoothly.
