DISTRAUGHT carers have voiced fears for the future after being told that a key Runcorn respite centre for people with learning disabilities is to be shut down for good. Halton and St Helens PCT has announced that The Croft in Halton Village is proving too expensive to renovate. In March, carers were devastated after learning that the Croft was to be reduced from a six-bed unit to a four-bed unit after an inspection raised concerns about its lack of space.
