It is perhaps ironic that the mechanism which local authorities are using to restrict services to people in the greatest need is known as "fair access to care services" (Councils turn backs on care for older people, November 22). These councils are failing to address any issues around quality of life for their disabled and frail residents and are taking no action to prevent situations deteriorating. If they were able to engage in preventative work, money would be saved in the long run.
