Statins, the drugs already prescribed to people with high cholesterol, could be offered to many more who have no obvious risk of heart disease following the results of a trial published yesterday. The trial, codenamed Jupiter, was designed to find out whether people with normal or low levels of cholesterol but raised levels of a protein linked to inflammation might benefit from the drug.
