County councillors are backing a bid to ensure Cumbrian doctors’ practices can continue to dispense prescriptions. Patients who live more than one mile away from a chemist are currently able to get medication directly from their GP. But Government proposals would mean patients could do this only if their surgery is more than one mile from a chemist or they live in rural areas.
