Vaccines already used in the UK to prevent pneumonia could also halve the risk of heart attacks in some patients. The jabs, called Prevnar and Pneumovax, are given only to those most at risk from infection, including the elderly and those with chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes or heart failure.
