The number of Britons travelling abroad for surgery is to double in two years, it has been claimed. More than 100,000 people went abroad for treatment ranging from heart operations to plastic surgery last year. Medical website Treatment Abroad says British patients are increasingly going abroad for health reasons because costs can be far less than those charged by private health companies in the UK.
