Health Secretary Alan Johnson will today give the green light for NHS patients to get direct access to physios and chiropodists. He wants to sweep away rules that mean patients have to be referred by GPs and ‘jump through hoops’ before getting treatment. Instead they should be able to contact a range of therapists including dieticians.
