THE former boss of north Cumbria’s hospitals has defended her decision not to suspend a top director despite claims he had assaulted a senior nurse. Marie Burnham, who ran the Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital until earlier this year, insists she took the allegations very seriously.
