New initiative to check hospital patients for blood clot risk could save thousands of lives -Daily Mail 19th September 2008

All hospital patients in England will be assessed for their risk of life-threatening blood clots --potentially saving thousands of lives a year. Doctors are to be given guidelines to help them identify which patients are most likely to develop often fatal conditions such as deep-vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
