Within two decades, our lives could be ruled by radio waves, says Claudine Beaumont This week, a government report provided a tantalising glimpse into the future of technology. Sadly for those who grew up reading Fifties' science-fiction comics, there wasn't a flying car, tinfoil jumpsuit or stun gun in sight. Instead, what we can look forward to is a wireless world in which doctors can be instantly alerted when you have a heart attack or crash your car, and intelligent sat-navs can advise you whether driving to your destination is the quickest route or whether you should let the train take the strain on this occasion.
