A PRIVATE health centre will begin performing thousands of operations on NHS patients in two months. The new £4m facility is scheduled to open in Kendal’s Westmorland General Hospital on July 1 as part of a scheme to increase patient choice and cut waiting times. International hospital operator Ramsay Health Care, formerly Capio, is being paid by the NHS to carry out orthopaedic or general surgery services for patients who elect to go there from anywhere across Cumbria and Lancashire.
