New Medical Hub For Borough - Altrincham Messenger 10th May 2008

A £23m modern health hub will be built at the site of the fomer St Thomas' Hospital near Edgeley. The hub, approved by the North West Strategic Health Authority and Department of Health earlier this week, is part of government plans to move healthcare out of hospitals and in to community settings. Stockport NHS PCT chief executive, Richard Popplewell, said on Thursday: "We are absolutely delighted the people of Stockport are going to be among the first in the country to benefit from a new style of care which will address health and lifestyle issues in an appropriate, modern setting.
