Liverpool has been named England's most deprived area in a government report highlighting the most underprivileged parts of the country. The report, compiled by the Department for Communities and Local Government, ranks all of England's 354 local authorities in terms of deprivation, a measure based on factors that include crime, the availability of education, standard of housing and quality of health, and the income of residents.
