THE trust responsible for running hospitals in north and west Cumbria has been criticised for not screening staff for a superbug. But the North Cumbria Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary and the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven, has stressed that it does have stringent safeguards in place.
