James LeFanu on clotbusters, night-nurse paralysis and hypnosis The vigorously promoted and highly successful "clotbuster" treatment for acute heart attacks is, we learnt this week, a "Dark Ages approach". Rather than using such drugs, claims Prof Martin Rothman of the London Chest Hospital, patients should go directly to specialist units such as his own, which have the facilities to perform an immediate angioplasty, dilating the obstructed blood vessel to the heart.
