RESEARCHERS at the University of Cumbria are looking to help in the battle against bowel cancer. They have won a £200,000 share of a £1.2 million grant to investigate ways of detecting the disease early. It is hoped the findings of the research, funded by the National Institute for Health Research, could pave the way for a national screening programme to be created.
