A NEW £1.6m A&E unit for children has opened in Salford. The observation and assessment centre will be the first specialist children's ward at Salford Royal hospital, known as Hope. It will expand ahead of the closure of the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, in Pendlebury, next year.
