Funding should be based on what works, not on what fits a conservative world-view, says Nina O'Farrell The US government's increased funding for HIV and Aids is positive (US House votes to spend $50bn fighting Aids and helping orphans in developing countries, April 4). However, we would question your article's assertion that "the campaign against Aids could stand out as one of the most successful foreign policy initiatives of his [Bush's] presidency".
