A 71-year-old man is believed to have become Britain’s oldest live kidney donor after giving an organ to his wife. Bill Armstrong donated a kidney to Norma, 70, after she had waited three years for a transplant. The couple have been married for 49 years. Mr Armstrong said: “With her age and a shortage of donors, I think she wouldn’t have received one. If we didn’t get it done soon, she wouldn’t have been fit enough.”
