A pill to treat obesity without the need for risky surgery could be available in ten years, scientists said. Researchers at University College London have pinpointed the mechanism that allows the stomach to expand after we eat. They discovered two proteins, called P2Y1 and P2Y11, cause the stomach to expand slowly after eating, allowing its capacity to increase 25-fold from three fluid ounces to around four pints.
