TEENAGE pregnancy rates in Cumbria are among the lowest in the north west following a dramatic drop. But a child welfare organisation believes that tackling the issue remains a priority, with high rates remaining in Allerdale, Copeland and Carlisle. New Government figures have revealed that the number of 15 to 17-year-olds falling pregnant in the county fell from 39.8 in every thousand in 2005 to 35.3 the following year – a drop nearly 16 per cent.
