Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital compensate Kerry Jones - The Times 22nd March 2008

Tuesday, March 25, 2008

A mother who was blamed by doctors for the death of her newborn baby has been awarded compensation running into six figures after hospital officials apologised for their “hostile and accusatory” behaviour. The High Court in London heard that doctors at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital refused a request by Kerry Jones, 37, for a Caesarean section in September 2002, and her baby daughter, Bron, was delivered naturally. The baby suffered a shortage of oxygen, causing brain damage. The next day Ms Jones agreed to withdraw her life support.
