David Cameron faces a damaging split in his frontbench team after a senior member criticised a pledge to spend more on health than Labour. Liam Fox, the shadow defence secretary, spoke out after Andrew Lansley, the shadow health secretary, signalled that a Conservative government would fund a rise in health spending that would mean an extra £28 billion being poured into the NHS.
