It's wrong to abuse the obese, says Max Pemberton, but it's right to make them diet There is a national pastime exercised on a daily basis up and down the country - in people's homes, in Whitehall, in magazine offices, advertising agencies and doctors' surgeries. It's a strange preoccupation which stands as one of the last bastions of acceptable intolerance. Feeling a bit tired and frumpy? Feel like taking it out on someone? Have a go at a fat person.
