GPs are wrongly prescribing antibiotics for minor ailments like coughs, colds and sore throats in a third of all cases, Britain's chief medical officer has warned. Sir Liam Donaldson said it was vital that drugs such as penicillin are used properly to ensure the battle against superbugs is won.
