A wartime bomber pilot went to Downing Street yesterday to "humiliate" the Prime Minister over the failure of the NHS to provide treatment for his failing eyesight. Jack Tagg, 88, has put his house on the market to fund £10,000 of treatment because his local health trust said he did not meet the criteria for the NHS to pay. Mr Tagg, from Torquay, Devon, is suffering from age-related wet macular degeneration in his right eye and, if untreated, would be left with peripheral vision only.
