HOSPITAL bosses have almost doubled their use of temporary staff because stressed out medical staff are leaving in droves, it was claimed today. An extra £2million was spent on agency workers to ease the pressures created by vacancies in the nine months up to the end of last year. A union leader has slammed the East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust - which runs both the Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Hospital - for failing to recruit and maintain nurses.
