Without doubt, the winter vomiting bug hit hard this season. Across the country, labs reported nearly twice as many cases as in 2006, itself one of the worst years on record, according to the Health Protection Agency. But the agency's own figures have led some to suggest that the norovirus epidemic was mere hype. The confusion stems from the agency's revelation that during the peak of the outbreak, labs actually recorded fewer cases this time round than in the past two years.
