WARDS in two Cumbrian hospitals were closed to admissions yesterday due to a winter vomiting virus. Two wards at the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven, and one at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, remained closed this morning. Winter vomiting disease – or viral gastroenteritis – is a regular occurrence at this time of the year and hospital visitors are being urged to do their bit to halt its spread.
