MISSED sexual health appointments are costing East Lancashire's health services more than £20,000 a month. In September, 140 patients failed to turn up for appointments with both Blackburn with Darwen and East Lancashire Primary Care Trusts. Health chiefs said the problem could be down to the trusts' existing policies of guaranteeing appointments within 48 hours - leaving patients believing it is OK to miss an appointment and book another.
