The rate of new cases of HIV/Aids in the UK is one of the highest in the European Union, according to a new report. There were 8,925 newly diagnosed cases in the country last year - almost 149 cases per million inhabitants compared with an EU average of 67 cases per million. Ireland recorded 337 new cases last year - a rate of 80 cases per million residents.
