Priority NHS treatment promised to war veterans - The Guardian 23rd November 2007

Millions of war veterans are to become eligible for fast-track medical treatment by the NHS as part of a government drive to improve the standard of care for servicemen and women, it will be announced today. Alan Johnson, the health secretary, is expected to write to GPs instructing them to extend priority treatment to all 4 million existing veterans. Those with injuries received as a result of their service will be able to bypass hospital waiting lists, get priority access to specialist care and become eligible for free prescriptions.
